Is Jesus His name?

Jesus and his followers were all Hebrew with Hebraic names. The “J” sound used to pronounce Jesus’ name does not exist in Hebrew or the language popularly used at that time – Aramaic. It only showed up in the English language some 500 years ago, which of course is evidence that Jesus was called something entirely different.

Jesus’ real name is actually Yeshua. Followers of Messianic Judaism, as do the Torah Observant community agree. In fact, some Christians argue that those who refer to Christ as Jesus instead of his Hebrew name, Yeshua, are worshiping the wrong saviour. These Christians believe that using the name of Jesus is like calling our Messiah the Greek god Zeus.

Iseus later to be Jesus infers ‘hail son of Zeus’.

When it to came to the Roman Catholic Church setting up their own church version, they inherited the books that the Jews were already using (who had of course omitted books that would include the solar calendar, the resurrection of life, Son of God) and threw some gospels on top.

Names are of incredible importance, as are a paying congregation, so they needed to rewrite some names to appeal to the populous at the time. Zeus was a great god in the Roman pantheon of gods so obviously this had to be used. Also roundabouts were other gods and beliefs, so to include a larger captive audience Krishna was used, the end result – Iseus Krishna – later to be penned as Jesus Christ.

Seems strange? Not at all everyone has been at it. The King James Bible even has Yeshuas half brother called James, when Yhudah would have been his proper name. But when you are writing a Bible for king called James what are you going to do to honour him?

A direct translation of Yeshua into English would have been Joshua – that clearly did not happen.

And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. Lev 20:3

Names mean things – its important we understand just some of the basics.

God is such a loose word – god is only a noun, a title. In Hebrew – Elohim – this could mean God on High or angels or Yeshua or us (yes we are Elohim) or little gods or false gods, even satan is a god. We need to separate out this loose meaning and be more exact.

God – Yaweh, Yahuwha, YHWH, (YodHeiVavHei), Yah (halleluYah – praise God – literally) Yes our creator has a name with meanings showing His character.

As does His son – Yeshua meaning Yahweh is Salvation ( Jesus also has a name with meaning)

Yeshua Hamashiach – Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus the Christ)

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Luk 24:47

There is nothing worse than being called by someone else’s name. I do not want to offend my Elohim (God) or my Saviour in this way, so I will use their proper names, so there is no doubt to whom I am praising and who I am asking for forgiveness from.

Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am YHWH. Lev 22:2
